Who We Are:

  James Creek Outfitters was established in 1996 by owner and guide
Chuck Elder and we have been guiding for Canada geese since that time.

  Our equipment is top notch with the latest in decoys and blinds.

  Our guides are passionate about waterfowl hunting and will work hard to make sure you have the best possible time while hunting with us. 

What We Offer:

  At James Creek Outfitters, we offer Guided Canada Goose hunts throughout the Pennsylvania and New York Canada goose seasons.  We hunt privately leased farms in North West, South East and South Central PA.
In addition we offer Canada Goose and Duck hunts in the
Finger Lakes Region of New York and the Susquehanna River drainage in PA.

  We hunt the majority of time in agricultural fields utilizing spreads of full body  goose decoys for the Canada goose hunts.  You will hunt from layout blinds which are carefully concealed with surrounding vegetation.  We have found the layout blinds offer the most comfortable hunt while still being able to easily move or shift as weather and field conditions dictate- often during the same day. 

Our duck hunts are conducted with boat blinds, shore blinds and lay out blinds depending on the type of hunt and the species of bird hunted.

Party Size:

  Even though Pennsylvania Game Laws allow for larger party sizes, at James Creek Outfitters, we prefer to limit the group size to a maximum of 6 people.  We do this to help conceal the blinds and hunters and to provide you with the most productive hunt possible.  Of course, unique circumstances are always considered – call us if you would like to discuss.

Accommodations:

Due to the fact that we hunt many different areas, accommodations will be determined just before the hunt. Your guide assigned to your party will assist you in picking the proper accommodations when he coordinates with you.

What to Bring:

  Our new clients often wonder what items to bring on their Canada goose hunt.  We have compiled a list of a few items that you may want to consider to make your hunt more enjoyable.

- Appropriate clothing –we recommend dressing in layers.  Camouflage clothing is best with particular attention to your upper body, especially your face.  We recommend a face mask.

- Food and drink (no alcohol please).  We will start the day at a local convenience store, so you can stock up on any items you may have forgotten.  We recommend bringing lunch to the field.

- Camera & Binoculars

-  Shotgun & Shells

- Headlamp

- All Licenses, including your PA or New York hunting license,
Pa Migratory Bird Hunting Permit and Federal Duck Stamp.

- When hunting New York, you must also register
with the New York HIP Program

- You MUST get a new HIP number every hunting season.
A HIP number from another state WILL NOT suffice!

- Large Coolers, Plastic Bags and Knives to clean your birds.
Federal law requires one fully feathered wing to remain during transport
to your home.  Bird cleaning will be the hunter’s responsibility.

- Upon booking an orientation document will be emailed with
further information reguarding the logistics of your hunt.
